Drawn from a number of stories and elements, the most significant part of this design comes from the iconic Jeff Divine image of our founder enraptured with a fresh discovery in the Mentawai Islands of Indonesia. A perfect pumping left, an ear-to-ear smile beneath a battered straw hat, and a welcome gesture to “Help yourself”. The sea plane references a promotional activation that involved mobilizing and badging a sea plane for a surfco at the height of the industry’s ’90s boom years. And while that particular company may have fallen by the wayside, Martin’s still out there, with lots to smile about.
